What is Coolsculpting?
Developed by Harvard Scientists, Coolsculpting has swept America by storm and is now the most sought after fat reduction treatment, worldwide. This revolutionary cryolipolysis® technology targets and freezes away stubborn areas of fat, permanently and safely.
How does it work?
Coolsculpting uses controlled cooling to target, freeze and crytallize fat cells, a process known as cryolipolysis. During the following 3 weeks the crystallized fat cells gradually condense and shrink and then over the following 2 months these fat cells are metabolised and excreted by the body. Clinical studies have shown that the fat does not remain in the body and that cholesterol levels do not increase.
What areas can be treated?
Coolsculpting is ideal for people who are within 2 stone of their ideal weight and who have areas of soft pinchable fat e.g.:
- Abdomen (Tummies and post baby bulges)

What does the process involve?
During your free consultation with our medical practitioner a full medical history will be taken to assess your suitability, and the benefits and any potential side effects will be discussed in full. Before treatment the body area(s) will be photographed and marked out. The coolscuplting machine has varying sized heads depending on the body area to be treated. To begin the treatment the correct machine head will be positioned on your body. Suction will then draw the fat bulge up between two cooling plates. The sensation is a firm pull and pressure and then intense cold. It can feel a little strange at first but this soon subsides. Fat cells freeze at a higher temperature than other cells so the precision cooling affects only fatty tissue leaving the skin and remaining structures unharmed.
Your treatment will take an hour (depending on how many areas are being treated) during which you can relax in our beautiful treatment rooms equipped with the latest audio technology and televisions.
At the end of the treatment the coolscuplting head will be removed. The treated area will feel solid – this is what we refer to a ‘butter-stick’ and shows how much fat has been frozen. The butterstick is then massaged for about 10 minutes until the tissue feels soft again.
What will I feel after the treatment?
The benefit of this treatment compared to invasive treatments such as Vaser, Laser Lipo and Liposuction is that there really is no downtime. Immediately after the treatment you can drive yourself home, return to work and resume your normal daily activities. Some patients experience redness, minor bruising, swelling, tingling, numbness or discomfort in the treated area but this is temporary, short lived and will completely resolve.
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on the size of the area to be treated, the number of areas to be treated and the degree of transformation you wish to achieve. Typically most patients have 1-2 treatments. Our “Treatment to Transformation Programme” delivers maximum fat reduction for total body contouring.
How long does it take to see a result and how long does
it last?
Results look natural and can be seen as early as three weeks after your treatment, with the most dramatic results after one to three months. Your body is still flushing fat cells and will continue doing so for up to four to six months after treatment.
